How can we improve Autodesk 3ds Max?

Multi-monitors, Mice, and Viewports.

Hopefully I'll be forgiven if this isn't a max issue. Whenever I have max on a non-primary monitor, and I try to use the mouse to rotate/drag/zoom, either as navigation within the viewport, or as an object manipulation, I end up with extreme movements. (e.g. I pan, and instead of getting a 5° rotation, I get a 80°, scroll back one increment, and I'm in orbit.) So I can't have max on any other monitor (I have four) which isn't always the most ideal workflow. It would be nice if positional information from the mouse was an absolute position within the viewport, independent of what monitor it may or may not be on.

Thanks for the feedback. I'd say more than 3 screens is a bit pathological already ;-) but good to know this is being looked at. Hope you don't get Carpal tunnel syndrome or neck strain from all the screen estate!

For your interest, it's been confirmed a bug. Any monitor that is above or to the left of the primary monitor does not behave correctly in the viewports, apparently due to the internal max coordinate system. It's being looked at now.

Totally fair, I agree this isn't the place... but I was going to answer your questions! :) I'll try the monitors, but I originally tried to go through subscription, but I don't have the option for technical support for max. Maybe a different kind of bug. Thanks for your attention.

You could try and reduce the number of displays you have down to two and see whether the problem persists. You could also remove the Logitech drivers and use generic Windows drivers. If you are on subscription, you can also log a support request via http://subscription.autodesk.com

In conclusion, I don't think this should be kept on Uservoice, as UV is more about feature requests and not about bug reports.

I just have a Logitech Performance MX for a mouse, with Logitech drivers. (I do not rule out that as part of the problem!)

My "full resolution" desktop is 5760X2280

So you have a total of four displays? What size is the bitmap that you get if you do a full screen snapshot using the PrtScn key?

Anything special with your mouse/input devices?

Quadro 6000s, current drivers, not entirely sure what you mean by desktop mode. I'm using 2013 with Nitrous. My montiors are laid out such that the primary is in the center, a wing monitor on either side, and one above the center.
