We built a nice system/cataloge for our 3d models for internal use. It`s a web browser based system, users can "upload" their new models, they can add tags, categories, provide sample renderings, make comments on the models, use the search to find models fast, and all the good features of todays web functions.

The models were hyperlinked to the local files on the server, so if you dragged the image from the browser to the max viewport, it brought up the import/merge window.
Since we moved to Max 2013, this function is gone. I gess it`s not a big issue for most users, but since it was an option all the way till Max 2011, I`m sure it`s also not a big issue to re enable this option.

The hyperlink format looked like this:
"file://///server/modellibrary/category/maxfile.max/"

It looks like Max doesn`t understand this format any more, or it doesn`t communicate with firefox for some reason.
