I just tried to use mental ray for a test the other day and I've run into this freaking annoying thing. Sometimes I forget that working with mental ray in max is like that.

What I don't understand is that the files should in the max installation folder, how can it not to find them?!

At least it's under review now...

There should be no default shader for the camera, just it!

Would be nice if the streak .tif could be a procedural texture within max to eliminate the need for an image map!

Yes, that's very annoying - especially since a.) the shader is by default deactivated in the render dialog anyway, and b.) the streaks option in the shader (which makes use of that bitmap) is also deactivated by default.
